1911 Failure to Feed

I bought a used SW 1911 in stainless and it as reliable as any gun I have. I use the Wilson mags and with just any bullet I feed it it has been perfect.

Did your 1911 run OK at anytime and then it just started?

MrRegis: I have seen a few SW 1911's with rough toolmakes on the breechface which cause the rim to hang up. The face should be smooth.

MrRegis stopped by my gun club today and we checked out his gun. He told me that it used to run fine, but now it isn't. The breechface and ramp appeared smooth, without any noticeable toolmarks. We tried it with several magazines: 7 round Wilson, 8 round Wilson, 8 round Wilson ETM, and 8 round Chip McCormick. The behavior was the same with all magazines -- failure to feed at least once per magazine. It isn't the ammo either, as the same ammo worked fine in my Kimber.

So I'm stumped, and recommended that he send it back to S&W.
