1911 Mags

Get the Chip McCormick 10 round shooting star mags. They work great in all my single stack 1911's. Don't waste your time with the 7 or 8 round mags. Buy 5 or 6 10 rounders and put the 7 or 8 rounders away and forget about them.

I went through CMC, Wilsons, and tried a MecGar. The CMC's worked for a while but eventually degraded to less than 100%. The Mecgar was nice but I couldn't break it down to clean the tube. My favorites were the Wilsons. However, I broke two of the stops on the Wilson 10 rd mags.

The Tripp Cobra mags have come highly recommended. I've yet to order some. (Tripp Research) They also sell spring and follower kits for other brands.

My 1911 (S&W) came with Wilson mags. I've added 3 Wilson 10-rd mags to the collection plus 5 Tripp mags.

I go in on a large group buy of Tripp mags (total >200) and almost all of us have had great luck with them. There were a few folks with problems but Virgil took care of them post-haste.
