1911 Refurbishing

I have a Colt 1911 Govt that I bought a number of years ago and want to re-chrome it. I saw a similar post here regarding getting this done, but have never had to send any part or the whole gun out to get done. I am looking for any advice in general.... (I.E) places to get the chrome work done and approximate cost..... how to do it, sending it through the mail...... and for in the future, a good local gunsmith at a reasonable rate..... South Shore Massachusetts

Let me know if you have any good advice for me!

is it already chrome? I have been looking for a beater 1911 to rehab. I'll secound Derr for southshore location.
