For sale at my shop....I can get it for $375. It's in 90-95% condition with nice Iron Sights and a pretty solid piece of wood. Should I bite? Seems like a good deal but the blue book has its value right around $400. I haven't found anything similar on gunbroker. Just the over priced pre 64's and tons of Japanese built 70s....

Thoughts?

I have a post-64 USA made Model 70 in 7mm Mag that was my Dad's elk and caribou getter. It's been a very good gun & my only complaint was that the trigger was not as nice as a Rem 700. Installed a Timney for short change and now the trigger is fantastic. Shot a .84" group with it a couple years ago in my club's hunter class benchrest match.

If the bore is nice, I'd grab it. You can't even get an SKS anymore for $375, and Mosin M44's are almost there...

I would buy it. It's not collectible like a pre-64, but it's a solid rifle. You can't produce a rifle of that quality for anywhere close to $375 today. There's plenty more deer & elk in that 44 year old rifle.

I wouldn't trade mine for anything.
3 russian boars and a 310 yard shot on a deer right through the engine room.
A nice solid relaible gun.
