Eventually I'll get out for squirrel, but I look at that more as "armed scouting" than hunting.
16 and a wakeup for pheasant, and I'll be out every opportunity. I've got a WMA 10 minutes from where I work, and I've been into birds and shooting 20 minutes after leaving the parking lot!
Deer season for shotgun and ML.
For pheasant and deer, I'm planning on being a 1-gunner. I've got my Sweet Sixteen all set for bird or beast. I actually found out that it groups every brand of slug in the same place! 4 boxes of different shells left a hand sized group with no flyers!
ML I'll use my CVA .50 percussion.
For squirrel, I carry either a Ruger Single Six .22lr, 10/22 or Savage 24 .22/.410.
As for other hunters on public land, last year I found that I left 3/4 of the people behing in the first 200 yards and after 500 yards, I never saw another person until on my way back in. I like to be alone, if I need to go a mile or so, that's fine. I never get a deer anyway, so I'm not worried about dragging it back
