Does anyone know if there are any handguns chambered in .410 that are legal to order in ma. I know there are some Judges floating around but I am looking for something that I can order new. I do a lot of hiking and would be interested in a .410 pistol for snakes so a compact derringer would be ideal. I am having no luck finding anything. Any help would be appreciated.

A Bond Arms Derringer is exactly what you're talking about but I can tell you that they are a bit large and heavy for only two shots. Plus one might be tough to find as they are no MA legal. You might be better off with a .38 snubby loaded with snake shot. At least you get 5 rounds with a Smith & Wesson. 6 with a Colt.

Right on the money. A snubby with snake shot would be ideal for you. The derringers certainly have the "cool" aspect, but capacity sucks, plus you have to cock the hammer before each shot. If there happened to be a Diamondback slithering up to you, the difference in time between getting a shot off with a derringer, and getting one off with a snubby .38 could be a second or more.
