Well I just added another new experience to my recoil resume...bench fired a 460 Weatherby several times. 400 gn projectile @ 2700 fps. The recoil was very stiff, but manageable. I could hit clay's @ 100. It was an 11 lb gun with a decent recoil pad and a muzzle brake. I would hate to fire it w/o the brake...78 ft lbs of recoil energy. All in all felt recoil was only a bit stiffer than my max load 45-70 with no brake.
