Hey All,
I just upgraded the follower in my Mossberg 590a1 (9 shot) to a GG&G Enhanced Low-Drag unit... But now it wont slide freely up and down the magazine tube due to the tube being slightly compressed by the existing clamp-mounts on my barrel/tube mounted light and Magpul front sling attachment - The stock follower was thin in material, and probably was able to flex slightly and function semi-normally in the tube. The new one is solid.

So now when I have all 8 shells in the tube, the new follower gets seized up and won't keep pressure on the remaining rounds... No good.

Anyone run into this issue with a similar light/mount/accessory set up?

I'm guessing I'll need to find another sling and light mount configuration, but wanted to see if anyone had any input before I start spending more money.

Thx!

Your problem is not the follower, but you already know that.

Get rid of anything that is compressing the tube to the point of deforming it. That's just a disaster waiting to happen.

I had a problem with the mag spring getting caught up on a new 590. A search of the 'net showed that Mossbergs are notorious for bad mag springs. So I replaced it with a Wolff and haven't had a problem since.

Agreed. Just liked having the light and sling mount where they were... I ordered a GG&G combo sling/light mount that mounts like a spacer on the end cap of the tube... Doesn't look promising, but we'll see.

I'll see how it runs next time I go out with the new set-up. Looks like they are pretty cheap, so I might get it regardless.
