Hey all,

I searched, didn't find anything...

I just got a new 870 (tactical model). I took it to the gunpowderpig, and for the most part it ran pretty well...except:

Occasionally, the next round in the mag wouldnt come out of the tube all the way onto the elevator, and I would have to reach in the ejection port, pull it onto the elevator, then continue.

Also, (and this might be part of the above problem), one round got stuck in the tube, 1-2 rounds up (its a 6-round tube). It took some banging and prying to get it out of the tube. The offending shell was a remington express buckshot, 2 3/4", high brass.

Any ideas?

Did you give the gun a complete cleaning when you brought it home from the store?
Remington/Browning use a anti corrissive crud on their guns. It can be thick or just a hard sticky film. The mag tube is usually coated with this gunk. Sometimes if the gun gets hot enough it will almost look like a rusty goo.
My Dad taught me to clean all new guns very well, regular dish soap and hot water. You might be amazed at how dirty your new gun is.

Hmm...did not think about anti-corrosion goo inside the mag tube. It didn't feel like there was anything in there (when I was feeling around, trying to figure out what was going on), but I'll have to give it a better look.

Thanks.
