I decided I didn't want to put a dumb hole through my brake and barrel, they look like shit and I have the resources to weld, so here it is. First one, and I learned from my mistakes.
I welded the brake to the barrel itself, and smoothed it out so they're now one. I then covered it in duracote to pretty it up a bit. I should have gone all the way over the entire brake with the duracote but It was my first time with the stuff so I didn't know how it dries, and what consistency it would be. I also didn't think it would be quite so dark, so the brake looks kinda silly. I'll duracote it when i get more. Just a little something different instead if the big goofy pin hole. Yea, that is a one way ticket, you will never be able to remove your FSB or change out the handguard if you have a standard FSB. A small welded pin, or silver solder is easily removable. Looks good, but it may have really limited your options.

I can break it down just fine. I have no intention or removing the gas block, and the handguard comes off without a problem. It's just a different approach, with a smoother look. I get what your saying, but if I decide I want to change my options..... I'll just build another [wink]

What if something breaks and needs to be replaced??

Cut the barrel, fixed the problem & install a longer muzzle break. If the new muzzle break + barrel is shorter than 16", another reason to pay $200 stamp.

Sent it from iPhone 5 LTE
