A military meme...

I was present when the battalion Sergeant Major (with a motor transport background) gave a class to a bunch of Infantry SNCOs and NCOS (E-4 through E-6) on how to wear their war belts, helmet, and armor.

We all stood there silently listening.

When the class was over the SgtMaj said, "SSgt, have one of the Marines take my gear up to my office."

I quickly turned to my platoon and gave them the "disperse" hand & arm signal.

They all "broke camp" at the rapid rate, headed for the barracks.

Not sure who carried the SgtMaj's gear back, but it wasn't one of my guys.

Some business associates called me one day to ask, “How can I find out what someone did in the military? We have a coworker who says he did a lot of ‘sneak and peek operations”, but they are classified so he can’t talk about it.”

“Look him up at military.com.” He was an E3 Refueling Specialist.

He could have done that job at the Forward Arming and Refueling Points (FARP) for some of the "big" missions? 🤷‍♂️

For a while I worked the Ops Desk in the Air Force, keeping track of the squadron's planes while up, passing jet condition to maintenance when they were on the way back, boring shit like that. The squadron was doing some work with the Rangers at Ft Campbell, and I went along on the TDY. I wasn't cleared for the operations of what was going on, so I literally sat outside with a PRC117 radio, glad it didn't rain. My job was to monitor the radio in case of an emergency - that's it. I don't know where the jets went, or what they did. So, unlike most classified stuff where I MAY NOT talk about it, in this case I CAN'T talk about it because I don't actually know anything.

A cooler version of that story is: "Yeah, I did some work with the Rangers, but it's classified and I can't talk about it."
