Accurate Arms warning about .40 S&W

However, UNLIKE Glocks, the 1911 barrel DOES enclose and support all the case wall - the thinnest part of the case.

I had 2 of my SVI's apart this past weekend and checked, just to be sure.

Your SVIs use barrels with an integral ramp and a corresponding ramp cut in the frame - a relatively new (relative to 1911, that is) development in the 1911 design. This change was originally done for 38 Super barrels shooting loads in excess of SAAMI pressures, and later used for other calibers including the Infinity/SVI 40s. The specific purpose of this design modification was to provide full case support for use with high pressure loads, and was an improvement over the 38 Super 1911s sold by Colt at the time that did not use such a ramped barrel.

1911s that use the original design with the ramp shared between the frame and barrel have a small amount of unsupported chamber - which can become a large amount if someone who doesn't know what (s)he is doing attempts to do their own ramp and throat job.

Supported barrels prevent "Super Face"
