AK-47 buttstock pad

Gents,

I recently performed a Saiga (922r compliant, of course) mod, and used this K-Var stock set (https://www.k-var.com/shop/AKBSL-2.html).

However, the buttplate on the stock is smooth, slippery metal. I've seen a few rubber buttpads online, but I wanted the advice and recommendations of the brainiacs here on NES before I made any moves. Does anybody have any experience with a particular brand and/or model?

Also....this is a SUUUUPER stupid question, I'm sure, but what is the little trapdoor on the buttstock for? Too short for a proper rod...maybe a breakdown rod?

Which leads me to another question....what would one use a "cleaning" rod for with an AK? Atilla hasn't cleaned his AKs.....ever?

you don't need a rubber pad on an AK unless your shoulder is made of lady-parts.

cleaning rod goes under FSB, oil and other supplies go in the trap door.

no, i have never cleaned any of my AKs. ever.

Rubber isn't for impact, its for purchase and non-slip. Second the recoil lady-partz.

when you bash your buttstock into someones noggin would you rather it be metal or cushiony rubber?

Trap door is made for a field cleaning kit. It is cylinder shaped and holds cleaning brush, small bottle for cleaning solvent, etc. They fit perfectly in the hinged trapdoor of the buttstock and do not rattle. Was always wondering why Saiga did not include one. I bought 2 new ones on GB a while back for $8-10 each.

This whole thing about the rifle sliding around on one's shoulder seems like capitalist nonsense to me. When you're firing an AK it's not about cheek welds and proper grip and accuracy, its about spraying tons of ultra-cheap bullets in the general direction of your target. In fact, conflicts in many African nations have outlawed the use of iron sights or even putting the stock against your shoulder. This is the proper way to fire an AK. It doesn't have a pistol grip so you can get it all snug against your shoulder and hit your target, it has one so you can hold the rifle (or better yet, rifleS) like a pistol and wildly fling lead in a generally forwardly direction while yelling, "WULALALALALALALA" or "Death to capitalist!" or something similar.

Check out Hickok45's youtube videos. He's a bigger dude and can't shoulder the Mosin or AKs very well so he put a collapsible stock on it. Maybe try this.
