Any Mauser experts in the house?

I'm looking for someone who can lend me a hand or at least some info here. I recently took possession of a WWII German issue Mauser HSc .32 that my friends grandfather brought back from overseas.

It has been sitting inside a closet for the better part of the last 30 years and currently doesn't function properly. The hammer will not cock all the way back and consequently the slide will not slide all the way back. This is unfortunate as these are the first two steps in field stripping the gun. Therefore I cannot do much with it and am hoping to find someone here who may be willing to have a go at it. It's a pretty cool gun and I'd like to get it working but don't want to further damage it as they ain't making any more.

Take the grips off and soak it in CLP. See if that frees it up.

Yes, I should have listed that as the first step in field stripping the gun.

I was going to recommend a can of "gun scrub"

Is this similar to CLP?

the gun scrub I've seen is an aerosol cleaner. It evaporates almost immediately. Great for squirting into places you can't reach but you can't soak anything in it.

Break cleaner is the same stuff as gun scrubber but cheaper.
