Hey Guys (and Gals),
New to the board. Looks very cool. Couple of questions for any Walther P38 experts. Have 1 in about 85-90% condition. Brown bakelite grips, all numbers match! Four digit serial number ending in the letter h. Maker mark on slide is cyq. Has 2 magazines - 1 is numbered 5312b - other mag not numbered. Any rough estimates as to its value with numbered mags? p.s. Also have black leather holster embossed gxy1943. Waffenmatt stamped and unfortunately, 1 belt loop slightly damaged. Condition of leather and stitching is very good. Any idea on the value of this holster? All info greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

I would have to see some pics but the spreewerke would go for about $650-800. The holster would get you about $120-200 maybe more but would need to see pics.

Thanks dal. No Pics., yet, was told that the "numbered" magazines fetch big prices, like over $100, if in good shape? Thoughts? Thanks for the intel. will try and get some pics. up ASAP. Any interest if I sell it? Thanks again, Panz.

I may be interested in it. I am more into the AC coded Walthers though. Spreewerkes usually have more machining marks and not as refined. Not saying that yours is like that but out of the three manufacturers that is the norm. As for numbered magazines, The practice of numberering magazines stopped around the C block in 1942.Considering that Spreewerke did not have any pistols approved for service until June 1942, I am willing to bet that the Magazine is not numbered for the pistol and most likely did not have one numbered to it. Also note that if it has been reblued at all it will not be desired as a collectable and will be classified as a shooter. I also dont believe that P38 mags that are numbered fetch that kind of price on a regular basis. I know that Luger magazines do. Most numbered magazine for a P38 are going to fetch around $50 - 80 in really good shape.

Thanjs again dal...

Great intel., appreciate it. yep, the mag. is NOT numbered to the firearm. Would have to say 90% sure it is NOT a "re-blue" but again, I am no expert. Will see if there is any interest at the show. Holster is very nice but the mags., well, they "Look" WW 2 issue.
