I was looking at a WWII Springfield Armory M1C that comes with the original scope mount, scope, cone flash hider and leather cheek pad. It also comes with a Title 10 Firearms paperwork. I've done some googling and I can't seem to find out what that means.

Anyone know what Title 10 Firearms Paperwork is? I'm assuming it's a letter of authenticity, but that would just be a guess on my part.

Is it in MA and someone's shitty attempt at implying efa10 for preban?

I was thinking the same thing, but it's not in MA.

I think it refers to an ATF Form 10. The firearm must be for official use only by a government agency. I'm not sure if it can be transferred to private individuals. Hope this helps.

Don't think that's right as it's up for sale and doesn't indicate any restrictions, but could be.

Maybe this:

Title 10 of the U.S. Code governs the organization and function of the U.S. Armed Forces, including rules related to military equipment and surplus firearms. If you're looking to sell a military rifle from WWII, Title 10 can be relevant in several ways:

1. Surplus Military Firearms and the Civilian Market

  • Under 10 U.S. Code § 2572 and § 2576, the military can transfer or sell surplus firearmsthrough approved channels, such as:
    • The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) – A government-chartered program that sells surplus military rifles, like the M1 Garand and M1903 Springfield, to qualified U.S. citizens.
    • Direct Transfers to Museums and Veterans’ Groups – Some WWII rifles are transferred under special provisions.

I’d run the SN past Dave Mclaine (Rolling Thunder on the CMP forums) for verification before you buy. If all USGI parts, you are talking $5k+. The scope mount alone is worth at least $1800. If the receiver, bracket, and mount are matching, it could be more like a $9k gun.

You need to do your homework on this one. Reproduction brackets and mounts are common (including those made by Griffin&Howe), and non-M1C rifles can be turned into M1C rifles by just adding a few holes.

Holy crap! They are saying it could be worth an Estimated Price: $14,000 - $22,500!!! It does though explain the title 10! Good info.

I am looking at one on an auction site but they don’t give anywhere near that kind of info.

Thanks!

Must be something in the water. I just found a third auction with a Title 10 M1C. Someone must have put a bunch on the market and distributed them to different auction houses.
