A friend might sell me a KAK 450 Marlin Upper ... but doesn't have mags. WTF!

What I thought was maybe the Phoenix 45/70 AR mags work. They don't list them on their site and their form to contact them is not working from my phone, but I will message them. I am sure they sell them, no way they sell a $4,800 rifle that only comes with 2 mags and don't have an option for people to buy more.

KAK doesn seem to have mags on their website and I couldn't find any doing a search.

Any other calibers you think will work?

I had some 450 Marlin in my old stock. I just sold it.

Otherwise I'd put the two together and send you a pic...but I thought the only thing different was the belt on the back of the 450M. So the 45-70 mags should work.

as i understand, it is an under 200yds round for anything extra large - like from moose to an elephant? :)
Do you plan an actually using it for anything?

I dont care. I can have it, so I want it.

99% of my guns are for my entertainment, the most important use.

For 🐘 I already have a 458 Win Mag I won at an auction when I was drinking and got carried away. I love that rifle.

I had a Marlin 1895M Guide Gun ported barrel.

That round is an asskicker and near dark the flameball out the muzzle is impressive.

I'm going to recommend against the 450 Marlin unless you'd enjoy enjoy the brass or ammo hunt to keeping that upper fed. I think Starline periodic release is the only remaining source of brass. Hornady dropped it. Mags seem to be unobtanium based on a quick search.

450 Bushmaster might be the better option, though my pick is 458 SOCOM.

I have a 450 BM. Shoots too soft.

But Phoenix didn't get back to me, so I will pass on this based on mags only.

I don't worry about brass or ammo.

Edit: Phoenix replied. I guess people are stuck with the 2 mags their rifles come with. Seems like a sh*t deal for a $4K rifle.

We presently make them only for our production run orders of our guns. We will be making them in the future and they will be available on the website. Please check back in a few months.

LOL who are those people that they don't understand a ready supply of mags is a critical element of rifle sales?

You're not wrong, but let's look at this for a second. They're alone in a niche making an upper that, to most shooters, is only a novelty. How many people will do three mag dumps in a year from that thing, let alone in a row?

I agree that nobody is going to play Tactical Tommy with continuous mag dumps of this caliber. However, if there's only one source and that source has zero availability? That's going to be a problem for anyone paying attention.

Exactly.

Imagine dumping $4,800 on a rifle and they tell you that you can only get 2 mags. [rofl]
