Hi guys, i took apart my mp and my friend's 9mm Beretta. For some reason i found some spots inside his barrel. It seems like some sort of small ruff bumps in few spots. the spots are like at the beginning / middle of the barrel.

I cleaned it out throughout very well, after discovering the spots in the barrel i cleaned it twice because i thought i missed it. Apparently i didnt miss the spots.... Any suggestions?

All of my handguns and rifle barrels is so smooth like a baby butt. But his beretta is pretty dirty.

Thanks in advance.

hmm, my bore brush is too big. i'll stop by nelsons and see if they got any smaller brushes. I'll be back later with results. Maybe pics if i can get ahead of my mother's cam.

Leave it alone, you will do more damage trying to scrub a barrel perfectly clean then you will do shooting it. I rarely clean the barrels of my guns, every few thousand rounds I might throw a nylon brush down the bore after I clean the chamber. one or 2 passes to push out any crud, no chemical used

2 things you can try, first try soaking the barrel in a 50/50 solution of hydrogen peroxide and white vinegar it will help in removing the lead. DO NOT do this if the barrel is blued it will remove the bluing. second get some JB Bore Paste from Brownell's it' a veritable based bore cleaner used for years by bench rest shooter. I swear by the stuff in cleaning my rifles and pistols. Check with Four Seasons ,Carl might have it in stock.

He's a Maine-iac. Four Seasons might be a bit of a haul.

I thought one solution to leading problems was to finish a session by firing jacketed rounds. Does that in fact work, or is it folklore?

I have some leading in one of my barrels, it doesn't really do anything so just clean it as usual and leave it along. Like Supermoto said, you'll do more damage trying to remove it than just leaving it alone. I like Break Free CLP bore foam. It does a great job, just let it sit for 15mins and wait patiently.

Thanks guys. I'll go get some new bore oils and try it again. I'll do this, put the bore oils all over it and let it sit for a while, then clean it out. We'll see how that goes. I'll stop by at nelson or hussies to see if they got any of the good stuff. All i've got is the cheapo bore oils.

Thanks guys, i'll keep ya in the know.

WARNING! Vinegar and peroxide is VERY strong and will eat the metal if left exposed long enough. If you have a lot of leading in the bore from shooting cast bullets and then force a FMJ bullet down the tube, what do you think it will do? Hint, it MAY clear some of the lead out and it will shure as heck force the rest firmly into the bore. Can you say pressure spike?

Oil is different than solvent. You want solvent to remove fouling and oil to prevent oxidation.

It also sounds like you didn't run a brush down it the first time you cleaned it. How exactly did you clean it and with what products? More information is needed.
