Such a foolish decision. The other competitors were pretty much the same in performance AND had magazine compatability with the M110. It's so stupid to have two weapon systems which are so similar, yet can't share magazines.

The Army should have made magazine compatibility a requirement in its RFP.

LMT, KAC, and FN all had entries. But the KAC entry wasn't exactly the M110, because the Army wanted a shorter option which blended in more with M4s

Pretty sure there is alot more in that price than just the rifle, and the key words in the article are "UP TO" $44 million. If they can get M4's for $400 then the M110 is certainly cheaper than $12k

I read they were unhappy with the M110's reliability as well.

I used to work at a company selling to the feds. Normally pricing is a race to the bottom but in procurement contracts like this one, the opposite can be true.

Taxpayers are lucky the price wasn't $20K per unit.
