BOSTON — U.S. Rep. Barney Frank is holding three town hall meetings in his district to look at what he calls "excessive military spending."

The Massachusetts Democrat has argued military spending must be cut dramatically to help pay for domestic priorities like job creation, infrastructure investment and local government services.

Frank said he plans to "make this case forcefully to the public, to his colleagues and to the Congressional supercommittee during the weeks leading up to the release of the committee’s recommendations."

The first town hall meeting is set for Saturday afternoon in the New Bedford Whaling National Historic Park, followed by a Sunday afternoon meeting at Mass Bay Community College in Wellesley.

The last meeting is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 23 at the First Parish Church in Taunton.

There is room for some cuts in DoD, but the rate Bawney Fwank would like to see is most certainly a bad idea. As Iraq and Afghanistan draw to a close (Iraq is pretty much done), I think huge cuts to domestic welfare spending, foreign aid, and a down-size of the Armed Forces to pre-2003 levels would save greatly reduce our astronomical deficit.

More buying votes with our money at the expense of our service members.

Barney sucks....oh, wait....yeah he does doesn't he? [shocked]
[thumbsup]....and just as understandable as Mayor Mumbles
