just an observation for those looking at different barrel finishes.

had to dimple 2 barrels.
parkerized and nitrided.
that nitride finish is tough, bit had a hard time. cobalt bit. and I dimpled that one first. parkerized cut right into no problem.
both barrels same manufacturer, same steel, only finish was different.

also, sliding the jig on and around the block area to line up the gas port leaves some marks on the parkerized. couldnt see any on the nitride.

Nitride is a surface hardening, hot salt bath heat treating process .

Get yourself a carbide bit, and it'll cut like buttah .
I have one in the size I need... but it's toast, it's actually under warranty I just found out.. so instead I buzzed the finished in the spot of the dimple with a dremel to expose bare metal. it cut... like really cold buttah

Park can scratch easy, maybe polish up the jigs edges or some very thin brass stock ?
