Hi,

I'm new here on this forum but an old time reloader/shooter.

I have a question about the Browning BDM. I found one at a dealer... It looks to be in excellent condition. Mostly clean (needs a light going over), but I don't see any rust or pits. Minimum wear on the blue. Made in '94. Looks like it was not fired too much at all. Barrel looks good, clean, no pits, no rust as far as I could tell. Comes with 3 15-round mags! Feels good in my hands.

Seller wants $550. What's the going price for this pistol in this condition? Anywhere I can look up prices without subscribing/paying for it? If you have experience with this pistol, I'd love to hear your opinion on it.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can give me.

Those guns are neat but the only thing I'd be wonky on is the parts availability for those things.

I almost bought one but the only thing I didn't like is the safety goes the wrong way compared to nearly every other frame mounted safety around. I didn't like the fact that you decock the thing and the gun is on safe at that point, and you have to flip it up to make it fire. If a gun is going to have a safety on it, I'd rather have something that flips forward or down like a gas pedal. (like a 1911. ) to get to fire.

I had one. Firing pin broke the first time I took it to the range. Then, the finish literally came off the gun. I was really excited about it because it had such a slim grip profile for a 15 rounder. It originally was going to be adopted by the Secret Service back in the Wundernine Craze but couldn't meet durability requirements and the project was dropped.

I don't know what the Blue Book Value is, but I wouldn't pay more than $350.00 for one myself.

It was an interesting concept, too bad it's execution didn't match. Put it in the same league as the Colt All American 2000, came out around the same time.

That's not a bad price, I just recently bought one with one mag for a little less than that but it was mint, 80s production with slide mounted safety. It's essentially a Beretta 84 with a full slide and a few other differences.

I think we are talking about different guns. Beretta 84 is a .380. Browning Double Mode was a pistol that could be selectively changed from DA only to DA/SA in 9mm.

The BDA was the same gun as the Beretta, with the Beretta having an exposed top barrel. Never owned one, but really craved it back in the day

I have a BDM, was my carry gun for several years. I still like it, reliable, accurate, and great capacity for it's size. I even picked up factory 10-round magazines from CDNN Sports when I was thinking I might get my MA non-resident carry license.

The gun would have to be all but unfired to justify a $550 price tag, IMHO. If I could find one around $350 I'd buy it just to have a complete set of spare parts.
