Yeah, should be ok, if you can find an FFL who will transfer it to you.

When you turn 21 (or move out of MA to the free world, whichever comes first) you will regret ever buying it. It has no resale value.

Buy an M1 Garand instead. It can be loaded quickly, and if you ever wanted to sell it, for some reason, you would get most of your money back. The Garand is more or less the ultimate FID rifle.

Or, depending on if you want to stock up on ammo and buy an AK later in life, the SKS is another decent FID-OK rifle.

Another option to look into is the Remington 7615. I have no experience with them, but they take AR magazines and are chambered in .223 Buy an AR later in life, and you already have ammo stockpiled, and you can throw the 7615 in your truck.

ETA: It appears the 7615 is no longer being made.
