Buyer's remorse or am I too picky?

I'm posting this for a friend of mine. I own no firearms, especially none that can hold more than 7 rounds [rolleyes]. I'll write in first person so it's easier.

So I saw these marks when I purchased the firearm, but the salesman was a sweet talker and I've been itching for this for a while. In hindsight, I probably should've passed, but I'm sure you all know the feeling. This is a new firearm:

And yes I suck with a camera.

those tiny dings on the frame near the slide release? can barely see them

Yes, yes, but I know they're there. It's like that little ding on your car which nobody can see until you point it out, but you always look at it when you walk up to your car.

Gun owners can be even worse than Leica owners sometimes.

The first scratch always hurts the most... but its a tool. Get over the cosmetics and give us a range report when your done.

What kind of gun is it? And how much did it cost? That's like not even worth complaining about... particularly not NOW. You bring it back and they will sell it to the next guy who simply won't even see that. Unless the pic is bad and it's understating the "damage".

[looks like a 1911 - so the above goes for double]

And for the rest of y'all, thank you for your input.

I don't have an arsenal ( < 10 guns), so I'm still kind of new to this stuff. I don't mind if I wear the gun out, but this is my first stainless and I don't know what wear will look like on it.

I'm the kind of OCD prick that freaks out at bent book bindings. I try not to open paperbacks more than 90 degrees if I can help it.

And it looks a tiny bit worse under the right light, but I couldn't capture it with my phone.

And at least I didn't post about price gouging [rofl]

I can take a good NES ribbing.

You may want to rethink this whole gun collecting thing, if those bother you, it may not be for you..........[thinking]

Nah, doesn't bother me if it's normal. I just didn't know if it was normal or not. None of my other guns have marks like that... well, maybe the mosin...

Now I know it's normal. Thank you all for your input. Again. Thank you. My inquiry has been answered. Merci. Gracias.

you must work for a media outlet if you think 10 or more guns is an "arsenal".

Was poking fun of the current thread about the springfield "arsenal:" http://www.northeastshooters.com/vbulletin/general-discussion/188968-raid-springfield-yields-major-arsenal.html

I really need to wait more than 1 min. or so between posts...

I agree, I had the same problem with an INOX Beretta. The grooves on the slide had some imperfections on one side. I called Beretta, sent it to the factory twice, talked to the NE Rep. No resolution.

Conclusion:
This is a seller's market.
If you don't want it, there is a line of people behind you who will overlook that imperfection and pay you what you paid for it. The salespeople know this.

It's not like an iPhone, where any little defect, they just give you a new one.

Advice: Most people don't even see the scratches. We do because we are staring at it all the time. Just shoot it and try not to let it bother you. It's not easy for me either.....

good luck
