Buying a complete SBR: does the factory engrave before shipping to FFL?

If you buy a pre-existing NFA firearm, you don't have to do any engraving yourself. It will already be engraved with the maker's information.

And one theory is that you do not have to make it mass compliant with regards to the AWB because a SBR does not qualify as a "rifle" in MA because a rifle is defined as having a barrel 16" or greater. I can post cites tomorrow but it's late and Thumb smashing on my iPhone.
