Just as a matter of basic math this cannot be correct, right? Let's assume there are 500 mass shootings every year, since 1960. That's a crazy high assumption, but go with it.

500 * years since 1960 = 32,000 mass shootings. Obviously not true; that's crazy high, but let's pretend.

There are 250 million adults in the US, roughly. If 7% of them are "exposed" and 2% are "injured, that's 17.5 million people and 5,000,000 people, respectively.

So as a matter of basic math, to expose and injure that many people, each mass shooting would need to, on average, "expose" 546 people and injure 156.

There definitely have been a couple mass shootings this bad in US history, unfortunately, but a couple. Not 32,000.

I'm 61 and no one in my past have been in a mass shooting that I can recall and that's quite a number of people with over 61 years worth of classmates and coworkers. Has she been hanging out in the bad section of Chicago? I think most people can agree on that article being a piece of fiction on her part.I realize this is coming from a Colorado university where having your brain altered by substances is the norm but how did you arrive at this conclusion? I believe you have confused mass shootings with suicides. I would believe it if your story was 1 out of 15 Americans knew someone with mental health issues that had commit suicide.I've been a first responder for the past 15 years and none of our departments have ever been to a mass shooting. Your 1 in 15 Americans is a load of BS. You MIGHT find that number if you go to a town where it has happened but as far as our entire country goes, it;s more than likely 1 in 15,000 and higher. Do everyone a favor and lay off of the substance that's clouding your though process.

Now if they polled only inner city folks from the more violent inner city neighborhoods then I could see it maybe being 1 in 15. But a national poll that had a wide variety of respondents including many from outside urban areas? Doubtful they'd get the results they were seeking when they decided to do the study and poll.
