Christmas Story Red Ryder at Walmart

I ended up digging out some commemorative rifles that have been packed away for years. These are available every five years from the Daisy Museum for about $90 shipped. In this pic, the brand new Walmart version is on the bottom, next up is the 2003 20th anniversary model, and top is the 25th anniversary from 2008.

The commemoratives are pretty nice, with laser engraved walnut stocks. They were limited runs, and each is engraved with a number. (There were 1,000 in '03, 1,500 in '08, and more as the years went on.)

Here's mine. The rail arrived Friday and the Pinty went on yesterday.

I may be a goof, but I'm grinning like Ralphie.
Nice, how did mount the rail
Double sided tape or JB weld
I used silcone glue one time and it held all summer.
Pointless but when tour the only kid with a bushnell 6x on his red ryder it does not matter.

Looks like this:

But 1/3 to half the cost of the gun , lol
People always bitch about the cost of the mount.

The Nazis probably bitched about the cost of the railroad.

Same principle, right?

You dont want to know how much I have spent on “BB” gun modes, lol

OK now I have to get one... [banana]
The pump stroke looks obnoxiously long , lol
To bad they could not make it a repeater. I have enough single shot pellet guns
All though for $70 it might be fun toy for a little more than 15’ like the redryder
If you do buy one make sure to get a few rebuild kits so in 4-5 years you will have them

of course i waited too long to buy one of these and now i can't find one in stock. anyone buy an extra that they're willing to sell (at a reasonable price)?
You have to order through Walmart, ship-to-home.

No ship-to-store, no hold-at-depot.

FedEx delivered Old Blue at 12:05PM today.

Interestingly, Walmart search fails to find it,
but that link works.

The gun sleeve arrived USPS on Saturday.

Every browser i try tells me that it’s out of stock, no add to cart button that i can find

Don't believe what you see on the website! They are out of stock online, and they website has listed none in stock at local stores since they started selling them. The store in Ware had a pile of them on display last Wednesday, so I would imagine other stores have them as well.

It may be corporately out-of-stock,
but if the browser thinks it knows where you are,
it may only be whining about the inventory in
a nearby brick-and-mortar store.

"Nearby" - not "closest" - because on Tuesday the 18th,
both the web page and the Walmart Android app
were obsessing over the Amherst, NH Super-Duper Center
while I was poking at the stupid smartphone in the
Sporting Goods section of the Hudson, NH Walmart.

I'd never have selected Amherst as my preferred store.
Hell, it's still doing it now, and I'm south of the border.

Now that's the suck.
It's looking that way for me too, sigh.
You can add it to a (wish) list or a wedding registry.

I'd have driven pretty far for a guaranteed in-store buy a couple of weeks ago.

It's also posible to find them in stores still. Ware is showing out of stock online, but there are about 10 of them locked in with the other BB and pellet rifles.

I'm glad that I'm a suspicious sort,
because Hudson/NH had at least one vanilla Red Ryder
locked into the Air Rifle cabinet in Sporting Goods.

A more trusting person would have bought one and not noticed
the discrepancy until they got it home.

The boxes look very similar! For anyone looking, make sure it says Christmas Wish on the box and includes the sundial and compass in the artwork on the front! They had both versions in Ware, and I thought there were about 20 Christmas Story models in the case until I took a closer look...
