cleaning shooting jackets

got a older hawke eye cordora/nylon jacket thats a bit grungy, best way to clean them ?
simple green and a hose comes to mind but dont really want to get the padding wet ?

Garden hose, liquid laundry detergent, and a stiff brush. Hang it outside in the sun for a day or two. Works fine. Won't hurt the padding at all.

Just don't want to get a stink out of it.....like old hockey gear always smelt worse after cleaning. Thank you.
