So what is it chambered for? Is it 7.62x51? .308? I will be ordering one in a couple of months, and also ordering a bolt gun (Remington 700 most likely) and so I was thinking so I was trying to figure out what caliber to get the bolt gun and trying to keep to as few calibers as I can haha.

CMP M1 Garands - Question

.30-06. Specifically, M2 Ball. Don't use commercial .30-06 in your Garand. It want designed for the modern pressures. Your best best option is to but ammo from the CMP. They have tons of it. Or you can reload like I do.
All of the CMP Garands are .30-06.
Alright that's good to know. I tend to try and steer clear of corrosive ammo though. I am set up for reloading so most likely I will invest in dies for it.

No. Surplus M2 Ball is still plentiful. It is least expensive from the CMP, though.
Good to know it's not corrosive. Now is it boxer or berdan primed though?
Boxer. I haven't loaded any of it yet, but I've saved all mine.
The Greek stuff isn't corrosive. Some of the older U.S. Stuff is (WWII, Koean War). 60's era and later Lake City is good stuff.

111.00 delivered 192 rounds HXP surplus with clips and a 30cal ammo can just really cant beat that any where
They also have the new Hornady M1 Garand specific loads in both Match and Range I have yet to find it cheaper anywhere.
I also have no problem selling off my extra clips for 1.00 each(24 clips in the 192cans) also the ammo cans run about 10.00 or more in my area if you want to buy or sell them

I agree the CMP HXP stuff is great. Ive bought 1200 rounds of loose stuff in the last few months. It is all mixed headstamps anywhere from 57' to 80' from my experience. In my last batch of 600 I found about 60 rounds marked "Den 43" which IS corrosive. It wont stop me from buying more but as always I will continue to inspect my mil-surp ammo closely.
