I haven't bought a new gun in a LONG time and am trying to get an idea of what are some of the better newer guns out there for concealed carry. Any suggestions/recommendations for a reliable carry piece under 1k?

Please narrow your search-size, caliber, action?

that said, glock 19, sw shield, kahr pm9...for that much you could get a lot more than a good carry pistol.

Gonna need a lot more info OP.

Revolvers I got a pretty good idea of what's out there. Autos not so much.

My main criteria is reliability. Ideal caliber would be .45 ACP.

Glock 30, SIG 227 compact, Springfield XDS/XDM, Ruger SR, and so on. Stay away from compact 1911s. They're known to be picky with defensive ammo.

I thought that model Glock was verboten in MA?

If an FFL or private party will sell you the firearm…it is not illegal for you to own it.

You might get a post from drgrant explaining this...

This. Someone has a NIB, unfired, Glock 30SF listed right now for $675.

This is a fantastic gun ^^^^^^^

I'm sort of fuzzy as to what Glocks you can get in the Commonwealth atm.

You can get almost any firearm via a private sale. You just need to be careful about the mag capacity. Only pre-ban mags can hold greater than 10 in MA.

An FFL is "forbidden" to sell you a new Glock unless you are LEO. You can buy any Glock via a private sale. Even if an FFL sells you a "forbidden" firearm…you have done nothing illegal and the gun is yours.

You can find almost any gun via private sale…just need to search it out. Of course, you both must be residents of MA.

Feel free to make an offer on any gun here on NES…as long as the seller lives in MA. This is how I obtain my Glock 19.

MA gun laws make my brain hurt.

Could someone please link me to the relevant M.G.L. relating to the private sales/transfers between licensed citizens?

You as the buyer don't have to worry about MA compliance for the actual firearm (remember mags are different). If a FFL or a private MA LTC person will sell you the gun you want...buy it. You are only required to fill out the proper paperwork. To me…there are no MA non-compliant firearms…just firearms that an FFL will not sell or transfer to you. No matter what gun I have…I can sell it to you. I get four personal transfers a year. So I can sell you four guns not on any MA "list". Don't worry about compliance…you can find someone to sell you almost anything.

Read above link about AWB stuff...

I picked up the new FNS9C. Love it. I also have the larger FNS9.
The 9C conceals well in my IWB single clip holster.
Shoots very well. Recoil is not noticeably different than the larger pistol.
COmes with 3 mags. A flush 12, a 12 with finger extension. And a 17 with grip extension.
Eats everything I put in it.
Carry with 124gr XTP, chambered.

Looking for a 45? The new Ruger sr1911 lightweight looks awesome. And then there's always the glock 36 and 30

i posted my experience on the SR1911 lightweight along with an update after 600+ rounds here:
