Gun dealer sentenced for federal firearms conviction
September 7, 2007
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. --One of the state's largest gun dealers has been sentenced to 42 months in prison on a federal gun violation.
Federal prosecutors say 62-year-old Frank D'Andrea of Shelton has been repeatedly cited by ATF regulators for violations of gun laws. In February, he admitted to possessing an unregistered destructive device. He pleaded guilty to one count of a 12-count indictment which charged him with possession of an unregistered 12-gauge Streetsweeper firearm.
He ran D'Andrea's Gun Case in Stratford which changed its name to Guns & Safes Unlimited and moved to Milford. Authorities say between January 2002 and December 2004, his store was the source of the second largest number of guns recovered in connection with crimes in Connecticut
At his sentencing in Bridgeport federal court, D'Andrea also was ordered to pay a $75,000 fin and serve three years' probation after his release.
