If you transmit on HAM frequencies without a license, you could go wrong. That's the only thing that comes to mind.

Easy solution for the legality of the VHF/UHF HAM radios: Just take the Tech test ... it is not at all difficult. Use CHIRP (freeware) to program these and you are off to the races.

Having an electronics background/education certainly helps, but some of the questions on the mock exams fall outside of that area.

Got to take general same session no charge, couldn't pass.
Practice tests again.
Came back next month and passed general.
Now if I could just figure out how to renew

Midway is at it again with ammo for $9.99/box (2 box limit). This week it is 30-30 Hornady (American Whitelail) Interlocks 150g. I would be all over it but I prefer 170g.
Last year I bought some of these (in 170g) and some 160g Leverevolutions and the Interlocks actually grouped better (like 2moa vs 3moa) from a Marlin 336 but I went ahead and zeroed for the Leverevlutions because you know, more power lol.
Regardless, I think this ammo is pretty good and at $10 a box you can't go wrong. It should come to just under $35 for 2 boxes shipped.

I'd been looking for an optic to put on a 10/22 takedown. bought a Hawke 2 - 7 x 32 scope, but once mounted to the receiver, and you 'take down' the gun, the receiver half with the scope hanging off of it doesn't fit in the carry bag, thereby defeating the purpose. So I took it back and researched red dot sights. The Bushnell TRS-25 is a value optic that's been around a while but still gets great reviews. LGS had one for $110 but I'd seen it on the Bushnell website w/ msrp of $80. I actually ordered one from the Bushnell Store on Amazon, for $59.99 with free shipping. seems like a screaming good deal to me.
