Just a heads up I read a thing a while back about flash hiders eroding the baffles much faster than brakes.

Could be BS too but it swayed me to go brake.

The flash hider is what came in box with the sierra 5.
I'll take a look at the baffles now that ive got a few thousand rounds through it.
Would really like to avoid a brake on the 11.5 for the instances I'm not running the can.

Everything looks OK so far.
I rarely shoot without the can but it happens when running multiple rifles at the range.

Depends on what you want it for. Id recommend a viper PST II at minimum from vortex, and not a huge fan of BDC. But for $200, on a cheap range gun it would do the job

My opinion: BDC is not a good option.

There are companies that make custom turrets based on your dope data. I believe most offer turrets for Vortex. That would be a good solution.

Some companies offer BDC for 6.5, I forget which company (I think Burris, Meopta and a few others), but I remember it aligned to my ballistic data, however, I didn't want to limit the scope to one gun and one load.

- ATHLON has really nice glass.
- MEOPTA, excellent glass and solid scopes.

It is not just that, but lower quality glass starts to show at 300 and beyond on a hot day. Sometimes even at 200.

If all you are going to shoot is 100, that glass will be OK.

I've been rockin the pintys on each of my 6.5 rifles no issue. African big game hunts included.

Side note, I'm completely full of shit but couldn't think of anything else to post(effort, -10). I don't even have anything in 6.5.
