Deals and steals

To point out that these types of residential security containers are crap. I bought something similar at the sporting goods store when I was in college and wanted to lock up a few guns in my apartment. I swear I could’ve broken it open with a pry bar. People spend thousands of dollars on guns, so spend an appropriate amount on a decent safe, or just buy one of the jobsite gang boxes that doesn’t look like a gun safe.

I went to Bass Pro looking for another safe recently, I was hoping to find something tolerable for $1500. Nope, everything they sell is junk. Half of the display units wouldn’t operate (yes I had the guy come put the battery in) and two had a broken mechanism where the wheel to unlock was jammed after the electric lock was released. The ones that would open had significant flex in the door, some had body flex when I pulled on the door. Even my wife said “wow, these are shit” after watching me yank on them. Just like the last time, I’m going to have to nut up and spend real money (again) if I want decent security.

My qualifications for an acceptable safe include, most importantly, a mechanical dial lock. From there it’s steel thickness, continuous welds, and boltwork mechanism not made from thin stamped steel plates with large bolts on thin angle iron. I have the tools in my garage to break into anything with enough time, so the goal is to have layers of security as you mention but also to slow down a determined thief. Milwaukee is not helping, this M18 metal saw would make short work of most safes.

Okay folks, help me find some deals to fill these first aid pouches as trauma kits should I look at rhino rescue? Stop the bleed intermediate? something else, looking to have a kit in each car.

I don't know if Midways sells Athlon. But Athlon has a lot of scopes at 20-48% off. Maybe they have a deal on those.

They are not the scope you can throw from a helicopter and not break it, but they are great for rifles that won't get abused. I have tested one next to a Razor Gen 2, and the Ahtlon glass was so much better.

Larry never sends me any Emails on my birthday, so I always forget.

But maybe you can get an additional discount.

Check prices against EuroOptic and Cameraland NY (legit busienss).
Would you throw the Athlon on a FAL? Heard they could be good for AR pattern rifles etc.?

It's FSA / HSA eligible so use those FSA bucks before they get lost in the new cycle, or HSA whenever you need to (rollover eligible)

I see your point, but it’s not apparently obvious on my phone screen unless zooming in. I’m 80% phone and 20% iPad on NES.
Same here.
