Deals and steals

328lb according to bjs. Not too far off from a real safe. Also says it comes with backup keys
Make sure you get one of these and leave it next to the safe to help the thief.

I want another one of Alyssa’s safes like the one I have in AZ.

I agree it's not ideal but for someone with limited space it might be ok. It's also 100lbs heavier than alot of competitors and has the waterproof rating. I'm not getting one but I am always a safe nerd. If someone is buy a tractor supply safe, this is also a great option for them.

But but but it’s not a $6k safe. I agree it’s fine for a lot of folks.

Would be very nice to find a deal on a piston upper of any design that does not require a buffer tube.
Brownells seems to be cheapest, but no sales and has contradictory reviews on 180 upper not fitting standard sized lowers.
But any buffer less uppers right now push at or above $900 that makes it, well, silly.
I just ordered and received a sbr barrel from brownells this week with zero issues or even a gay email like primary arms is doing.

I thought Stag was one of the better manufacturers for this stuff. Wasn't it Stag and Spike's that were so hot? Anyhow, Delta isn't the maker, just the seller. And the reason I put it here, was because it has no threads, which might appeal to some people these days. Not sure what your problem is, since you don't really say. Then you try to appeal to "NES" to chime in? Strange vibes there.
Lol, what?

This was not an attack on you, relax. Go do a search online, that is what I did and decided to not use that place. However, some people might have a different experience and maybe the reviews were crap, so, as I mentioned, I am interested to hear what people say.

You also don't have a rep for buying quality, so I get suspicious when some members post "deals". You are not alone on that list.

Not sure what this means, or how it applies to me.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

For the record, if I see an email or some other online "deal" that I think might benefit someone here, or that people would be interested in, I'll post it in an effort to let people know. I thought that was the purpose of this thread. Maybe I got this wrong. If so, please tell me what this thread is about, so I know going forward.

The weight was not listed in the original post, and I’m not interested in that piece of shit so I didn’t click the link to verify.
What if I told you there were huge incentives and you could sell it to someone else for huge upside after you realize it isn't for you?

Did I mention incentives?

Beats the Hell out of a thin sheet metal "gun cabinet" at $200+ for people with very tiny collections. [thumbsup]

.

I just looked at the first post:
Thought a thread where we post deals on parts, accessories, and other gun related stuff would be helpful.

Looks like I got it right.

Reading is your friend. You should try it. It weights more than double the 150lbs.
If its a decent door safe its not really the weight that matters if you lag it in the studs and floor from the inside, with 6 to 8 higher grade lag bolts.

Meth heads don't bring in dollies to steal your shit. They are probably driving a small shitty car...not an F150.

They grab what they can fast and screw. So in that case, the glock in my nightstand drawer is gone, but other than that, Im sure they are not stealing whole gun safes in most cases. They aren't equipped for it. If its lagged in from the inside, which any safe, box or whatever should be, its staying.

The argument can be made they may try and pry the steel gun cabinet types open...and that is valid. But it depends how much time and will they have.

They are not. People here over think safes.

If your worry is a random meth head, they won't be taking that gun safe or breaking into it.

If your worry is someone that knows you have a nice gun collection, depends. If the person is smart and waits until you are gone, you are f*cked. But with how cheap and easy to install cameras are today, there is no reason to not have something that will warn you someone is in the room and that should give you enough time to call someone.

Agree. Another weak point is the sides and back on safes. If you can put the safe between something and it has a good door, I bet most safes are fine for the purpose. This safe was truly $600 and not just a fake clearance. Judging by other safes at tractor supply and places like that, this safe falls in the $600 range as well. It's not huge but if you have less than 10 guns I'm sure it would be comfortable.
328lb is about max before you get something delivered anyway

Then why comment?
To point out that these types of residential security containers are crap. I bought something similar at the sporting goods store when I was in college and wanted to lock up a few guns in my apartment. I swear I could’ve broken it open with a pry bar. People spend thousands of dollars on guns, so spend an appropriate amount on a decent safe, or just buy one of the jobsite gang boxes that doesn’t look like a gun safe.

I went to Bass Pro looking for another safe recently, I was hoping to find something tolerable for $1500. Nope, everything they sell is junk. Half of the display units wouldn’t operate (yes I had the guy come put the battery in) and two had a broken mechanism where the wheel to unlock was jammed after the electric lock was released. The ones that would open had significant flex in the door, some had body flex when I pulled on the door. Even my wife said “wow, these are shit” after watching me yank on them. Just like the last time, I’m going to have to nut up and spend real money (again) if I want decent security.

My qualifications for an acceptable safe include, most importantly, a mechanical dial lock. From there it’s steel thickness, continuous welds, and boltwork mechanism not made from thin stamped steel plates with large bolts on thin angle iron. I have the tools in my garage to break into anything with enough time, so the goal is to have layers of security as you mention but also to slow down a determined thief. Milwaukee is not helping, this M18 metal saw would make short work of most safes.

Midway birthday sale recommendations anyone?

I don't know if Midways sells Athlon. But Athlon has a lot of scopes at 20-48% off. Maybe they have a deal on those.

They are not the scope you can throw from a helicopter and not break it, but they are great for rifles that won't get abused. I have tested one next to a Razor Gen 2, and the Ahtlon glass was so much better.

Larry never sends me any Emails on my birthday, so I always forget.

But maybe you can get an additional discount.

Check prices against EuroOptic and Cameraland NY (legit busienss).
