Desert Eagle

I've fired all three DE Calibers and the 357 model is a much more controllable animal then the 44 or 50. Recoil and follow up shots are much easier to control. Out of the 3, I think the 357 model is a more viable option in a "real world" situation. If your just plinking for fun and your a recoil junkie then the 44 and especially the 50 is for you. [wink]

I'm sure you give up a little ballistically with the 357, but accuracy and quicker follow up shots out to 50 yards is what sold me and why I bought a 357 model. If I lived in an apartment or townhouse, I would be concerned with overpenetration with all three, but especially the 50. To each their own though.

A new member to the Desert Eagle family. We need more of them. [smile]

I love my .44mag DE I bought from Greg.

I'll reiterate what has been said - HOT ammo, keep it relatively clean, and don't hold on to the mags. It 'floats' in the magwell and if you put pressure on it, the gun won't like it. Also, don't be annoyed when it jams. It happens. If you have issues with feeding or the slide locking back, make sure you have newer mags (90s or newer, but some of the experts can say better). One of my older mags (80s manufacturer) does not hold the slide back on the last round but the newer (95) mag does.

Oh all that and get the houge grips. Makes a HUGE difference.

Enjoy your new frivolous, totally impractical, but super cool gun.

Rob,

I'm glad you're happy with it! My new Polished chrome .50ae/.44 Magnum gun is fantastic as well. I love mine, but there's no doubt it's a novelty.

Glad to see more folks are getting the Deagle bug!

You know what's funny, is that I wanted a Desert Eagle long before I ever had a license, gosh, since the first time I saw it in a movie (The original La Feme Nikita) back in the 90s but by the time I was actually buying firearms, I had long since decided it was expensive, frivolous and all the other things that is is. I never planned on getting one but then I found myself with a beautiful condition HK USP that was totally redundant and rarely got out of the safe. So when I put it up for trade I basically left it open to offers and when the Deagle offer came in, I was intrigued. Trade one safe queen for another? Sure! So now I've got the "anti-HK" a gigantic solid chunk of steel.

It's not about need...
