He returned it as a political statement - If you don't think I'm responsible enough to buy it, you can have it back.If he was giving his notice, and the sale was legal, why did he return it?
It's like accepting the Bass Pro that "The Glock you bought must be returned" as valid.
Now, they have a used gun, that they cannot sell as new.
There was no "We want you to return the rifle," from the store - in fact, they tried to get him NOT to return it. IIRC, he didn't even clean it, as a bonus.
So,,,,he got to shoot a new gun, got his money back (so no downside to him), and caused a bit of aggravation to the store.
