Dock Strike looming

Filling the empty gas cans and vehicle tanks as the price is down.

Wondering what you guys think should have stock on in case this turns into a sh1t show.
The usual, topped off on gasoline vehicles and cans, canned and dry food, water filtration systems, propane bottles etc.

Domestic and Asian market products should be fine as the west coast is still open for business

I think we are screwed. They have not met face to face since June and the blockers are two fold, compensation and automation. Biden can postpone the strike but word is he won’t.

Dockworkers are on the verge of a strike. Here's what you need to know

Wage increase they are asking for is to go from $39 max to $69, a 51% increase. They got screwed last go around with $4/hr over 6 years.

We definitely lost 30% in buying power with Bidenflation over the last few years. So the 32% increase the west coast workers just got them back to even. So another 20% over 6 years sounds reasonable to me just to keep up.

You know they want automation and drooling over AI machines replacing pesky humans.

From my own experience research

“The sentiment around the U.S. dockworker contract negotiations, set to expire on January 15, 2025, suggests a high likelihood of another strike. Key unresolved issues include automation bans and wage demands, with both sides showing limited progress in recent talks. Experts warn that both political and economic pressures could escalate tensions, especially as union leaders emphasize job security over automation. While government intervention remains uncertain, the potential for disruption is significant, given the stakes for supply chains and the broader economy.”
