I picked up a Mil Surplus Enfield No.4 MK1 and have it completely torn apart on the counter and noticed the firing pin has a pretty good bow in it. When I roll it in one of the groves of my bench block I get about 3/16” deflection in the tip of the pin. It also has a band of discoloration around it at about mid way that looks like it was from heat. I am thinking it was bent and someone tried to fix it by heating it and bending it back but I want to make sure this is not some common thing with the Enfield bolt. So with that I have a few questions.

1. Is this common?
2. What might have caused the original bend?
3. Do I need to worry about it?
4. Is there something else in the rifle I should be checking ?
5. Where would I look to get a new one get a new one?

Thanks in advance

Dan

I wouldn't worry about it unless you're getting light primer hits. Avoid the cheap surplus 303 because the ::click:: - ::bang:: delay happens with mint rifles too. Try some Greek or newly manufactured ammo to be sure the fp isn't bad.
You can get a new one from Numrich.

I will have to just try it when i get the rifle back together. It has been kind of a long project for me because time has been tight.
