My FAL knowledge is spotty, so I am looking for some help.

I have found an FAL that is listed as a Century L1A1 Imbel. My meager understanding tells me that this is a Century frankenstein model that is using inch parts on an Imbel receiver (Metric).

From what I have read the Imbel receivers are good. I do not know the condition of the rifle - I may take a trip tonite and go check it out. Any FAL experts here who can share what I should be looking for as far as quality of the rifle?

I have a DSA FAL which has been very reliable. I have been thinking of picking up another - and this is at what seems like a decent price ($650)

Yep, an IMBEL receiver based Century build. Just make sure the receiver is in fact an IMBEL (marked IMBEL). Century builds can be hit or miss, but with the IMBEL receiver, $650, with the market the way it is, I'd go for it.

My friends IMBEL based Century build has been 100% reliable.

DSA is backordered like 6-8 months +... I'm currently waiting on an STG-58. If you want another DSA, get on the waiting list now.

I had been thinking of getting another DSA - and I may still, but I did notice (like you said) that the wait time was way out there.

Thanks for the info, I will probably take a trip tonite and check this one out.
