Favorite handgun caliber and why...let it rip!

.45 acp. I reload as well and all of the above is true. Free brass, 5gns powder and I found cheap 230gn JHP's that chew the shit out of paper targets.

And like the man says, shooting them more than once is just plain silly

For daily carry 45 acp is my favorite. When you are loading those 230 grain chubby hollow points into your magazines you can't help but think " damn, those look like they would hurt"

.45ACP it is arguably the longest serving, most effective military sidearm cartridge but it must be fired from a 1911A1.

Praise be John Browning !

Nope the 9mm Parabellum beats it by two years, introduced into the German service in 1908. Granted in hardball form, the .45 ACP is probably more effective than 9mm hardball.

Big fan of the .40 and .41 mag. Obviously need a .22 too but my favorite is the .221 Fireball in an XP100 with a 10 X Burris IER scope. Shoots under an inch at 100 yards. A little difficult to CCW but it fits in a backpack on on a sling for stealthy coyote hunting.

9mm. It does everything I want it to do in multiple guns. I use it for IPSC, home defense, personal defense, and just plain ol plinking at the range with family. I reload for it, so it is fairly cost effective.

I love how nice 9mm is to shoot out of my Sig 226 or G19. I can shoot it all day without getting tired.

But for self defense I'd have to say .357 mag, since that will stop just about anything on 2 legs or 4 in New England.

Best shooter I have . 1991A1 Commander .45 pisses of some colt guy's when someone calls it a 1911[rofl]

.45 because 'Merica, and in my heart I love my 1911, even though I don't shoot it often, or carry it, ever. Maybe I will once I get a .45 can. I keep a few hundred rounds on the ammo shelf, but that is it.

So I guess in reality, 9mm because that is what I carry, shoot, and stack in the basement.

9mm overall. With modern bullets the performance gap is so small these days, and I like high mag capacity and easy-to-tame recoil. Not the most effective round out there, but it's versatile.

If not 9mm, 10mm is my second choice. 15 rounds in a Glock 20 and it's a lot of power for a semi-auto.

.40... just to piss off NES [troll]

THIS^^^

I Thought i'd be the only one. Fotay all the way, and 10mm close second. If they had a subcompact 10mm the size of a G27 id be in 10mm heaven.
I've said it before and i'll say it again, .40 is the perfect in-between caliber, and it's especially good when no other ammo is available, .40 ammo is everywhere and for damn near the price of 9mm, F*** 9mm!!

The glock 29 is around the same size in 10mm
