Back in Vietnam, when we got back to the LZ after a mission, the First Sergeant would always welcome us with an LZ Picnic.
Rib Eye Steaks on the grill,
and ice cold beer! (In Vietnam, ice was worth more than beer.)![Wink [wink] [wink]](/xen/styles/default/xenforo/smilies.vb/002.gif)
No Potato Salad, no Corn on the Cob. Your leftover C-Rations became the side dishes.![Laugh [laugh] [laugh]](/xen/styles/default/xenforo/smilies.vb/012.gif)
And the only eating utensils you had were your bayonet, which is all you need to pick up a steak from a grill.
I have to admit, those were the best meals I ever remember....
Years later, back in Albuquerque, I met up with some fellow Vets, and we revived the tradition.
We used to meet up in the mountains every couple of months and have an LZ Picnic.
I miss those LZ Picnics.......
So I was wondering if any fellow Vets here would be interested in having an LZ Picnic.
