I finally found a pistol I've been casually looking for at one of my LGS' for about a year. It's nothing special, just a Glock 19 Gen5 MOS, but since I have a Gen 2 G19, (manufactured 1992), that I bought used while I lived in MA maybe around 2008 I decided on a new Gen 5 with optics mounting capability. While there are plenty of newer optics capable pistol designs out there, I decided on the Glock for several reasons;
1. Familiarity with G19 model, which I can shoot well.
2. I have a box of various capacity mags.
3. I liked that it has the different mounting plates for different footprints since I haven't yet decided on an optic.
4. The fact that my ancient Gen 2 has digested thousands of rounds without any gun related failures and no parts replaced gives me confidence that the newest Gen 5 will probably be reliable also.

Looking forward to a range trip soon!

Nice! Awesome that you found what you wanted.

Regarding reliability- it's a Glock! Pull trigger = bang, every time.

I went from a Gen 3 G19 to a Gen 5. You will be happy when you take it to the range. All the good stuff is still there along with a better trigger…. Enjoy!

I find no noticeable difference between the newer and older models. Maybe on paper they are a little different, but aside from the back straps, they all feel the same to me. I like the gen 3 grip, so I usually just buy one of those for less than a gen 5.

Glocks are like iPhones in my opinion. No real difference,, but people still only want the latest model or they feel like they are missing out on something.

A side rant of I may. Glock went to all this trouble to mass produce a solid, reliable gun at a very reasonable price. Then guys buy them and take out all of those solid, reliable parts and put in fancy, tacticool bull shite and cut holes in the slide, change the springs and triggers, etc.

They spend another $500 or more, change pretty much everything that made it reliable and then bitch that Glock sucks because it won’t run right for them.

It’s a Glock. All it really needs is some night sights and maybe a flash light for the rail since most bad guys come out at night.

grr.
rant all you want, but a 3.5# connector is not too much to do, nor the flat trigger. if you like it - why not.
stock glocks are fine, modded ones are also fine. no need to do a holy war over that.
gen5 shoots nicer than a gen3, anyway. and my hand never felt great on gen3 curves. so gen5 all the way here.

My Glocks are all stock except for night sights as well. Trigger on the 5 is definitely smoother on mine, and breaks a bit cleaner. Could come down to individual shooting habits and/or finesse on the trigger as to whether or not it makes a difference to you.

I like my Glock for what it is. Could the trigger be nicer? Sure.
It's not meant to be a target gun or race gun or any other precision gun.
It's meant to be reliable and durable.
Those two things outweigh the 2 lb smoothe trigger and rosewood grips for my purposes.
