I took my 3rd gen Glock 29 to the range today with 100 rounds of Remmy UMC, 180 grain FMJs. It was my first time shooting it, and I had a hell of a lot of fun with this thing! Easily the loudest gun on the line (indoor range) and I could see a big white fire ball at the end of the barrel, probably 6" across. [shocked] The recoil was manageable, and follow up shots at a brisk pace (range says no rapid fire) were easy to get back on target. I was shooting at about 10 yards and most of my shots were COM, but I was pretty excited and shooting a bit fast, so I started pushing them left haha.

I did have an issue with one of the magazines; the 9th round went off with out issue but the slide would lock back and the 10th round didn't get picked up off the magazine, just moved forward a little bit.

This is what the round looked like in the gun:

I dropped the magazine, checked the barrel for any obstructions, cycled the slide a few times then reseated the mag and chambered the round, it went off without issue.

My guess was the new magazine, too much tension from the brand new spring? Any thoughts?

Your mag or thumb must have ben pushing up on your slide stop lever. It recoiled all the way back, then about .250 Inch forward. (about the amount the last round was moved). JMO.
Remove the slide, insert that mag & see if it's pushing on the lever. Try it with one round in it. Hold it like your shooting it & see if your thumb is pushing on it.

I'll give it a try, thanks.

How old is the recoil spring? I had a problem like yours, and a new (stock) recoil spring fixed the problem.

Less than 3 months old.

It sounds like the follower is engaging the slide stop lever early? With the slide off, put one round into the magazine... and put the magazine into the frame. See if the magazine, with the round in it, is pushing the slide stop lever up. If so, a new follower should fix it.
