So I was I under the impression that a gun stored in a locked glove box was a no no........Yet this cop seems to be getting away with it.......
Precedent?????
Thoughts on this?
What would a judge say to you or me?
"The report said the temporary misplacement of Albert's badge in Proctor's cruiser was not considered a violation and that the storage of his firearm in a locked glove compartment was deemed adequate and not a violation of department rules."

If you need a key to access a gun I assume it is considered safe and satisfies the requirement for storage.

This is not true (for little people) until October 23rd when H.4885 takes effect.

H.4885 explicitly says a locked glove box is sufficient.

I can understand the reasoning for that. They are saying it's OK to store your carry piece in a locked glovebox when you stop at the post office or courthouse, as long as you put it back in your holster before you drive away. I think most of us probably have lock boxes in the car for this purpose, but for those who don't, and still have a car with a physical key to lock the glovebox, this is convenient.

OTOH, Even if the law permitted, I would not transport in my glove box, because I have to reach in there to retrieve my registration if I'm ever stopped by the po-po. I'd rather have a $20 lockbox under my seat then be shot by a jumpy rookie at midnight.
