Point taken. I can't get my head around carrying an unloaded gun at any time, so that slipped by me.

Thanks for the heads-up. I hope you are not a Bruins fan!I know the feeling Mike. Every time I must travel to MA, I feel the need to puke.
Quick clarification on the carry concealed thing. You can carry an unloaded gun concealed in NH. What's the threshold - for example - if you had a revolver and speed loader in your pocket, is that illegal? What about a loaded magazine in your pocket? What if you just had a couple bullets in your pocket?

Why the hell would you even bother to carry an unloaded handgun on your person? You'd be better off with a hammer, a rock or something else.
Maybe he doesn't want to leave it in his car or something, and he doesn't have a P/R license.
Hopefully this point will be rendered moot if the Legislature does the right thing and gets rid of the permit requirement.

MA LTC-A - Going to MFL for some shooting with friends, can I bring any of my guns with...
...and if yes, how?
you can bring anything that MFL will allow you to shoot following these precautions
If you have a NH Non Resident Pistol & Revolver License, you can transport loaded and concealed
If you have no NH permit, the guns have to be unloaded in your vehicle and unloaded if concealed on your person
So there is case law where a loaded magazine outside of a rifle caused a problem? I find that hard to believe.
If you are coming from MA you'll probably have the unloaded rifle locked in a bag/case anyways, thus rendering the issue more or less moot.

Thanks guys, I'm bringing a rifle and 2 handguns all with locks through them. I will keep the mags empty and separate and plan on keeping the ammo in the boxes/cases. Here's one other question, I drive a truck (no trunk), is that going to be an issue?
Oh man... even if they're not as strict, I don't want to take any chances. Maybe I'll use the fiancee's car. Or just not even bother. I need to get my NH non res, I spend plenty of time there in the summer.
Yes: NH RSA 207:7 Hunting From Motor Vehicle, OHRV, Snowmobile, Boat, or Aircraft.
It has been interpreted as far as leaning a loaded long gun against the tailgate/tire/etc of a car is a violation and people have been charged. Nobody can give me specifics, and it sounds like a brothers cousins hairdresser kind of story but... they claim it's happened. I agree, it should be changed.
I heard the same in the hunter safety class that I took in MA, and I agree with you -- it is another BS law designed to create criminals out of innocent people.
