Oh yeah. Wood is the only way to go! Ok, so the 500 still has rubber. That is until I find a good set of wood that will reduce the recoil like the rubber does.

Dennis, I see we have a common taste in grips. I dig your boots with the S&W medallion on the 332. Mine are S&W parts but didn't come with one.

What kind of grip is that and where can I get one?

Nice looking for sure. [grin]

They are all KN-Nill grips, you can find them here... http://www.nill-griffe.com/

The model on the 629 is the BIANCHI/PPC
The Master II with open Back Strap
.

Just do a search in the product section for you type of handgun and a whole pile of grips will show up. These are just about the best fitting grip you will ever find, the seams on these are flawless, you couldn't catch an edge with a razor blade.

But just like all nice things, with it comes a heavy price tag and a long wait. The four grips on the guns pictured above cost over $700 and took 6 weeks to get (made in Germany).

Im in the process of replicating a Hogue Monogrip from walnut for my Dan Wesson and I'll let you know how that goes. Not rocket science at all....unless you want to do checkering in which case you need the right files....Anyone with a heap of patience, a 1/2" round file and some sandpaper can make any grips they want.

Post up what you have for handguns. I have a box full of grips that I can search through and perhaps I might be able to donate a pair to help your plight. [smile]

Really, the only gun that I'd like to get better grips for is my S&W model 17 - a square-butt .22LR. There's just no good reason for Hogue's on a .22...

Take up woodcarving?[smile]

Yeah. Picture a 6" long piece of two-by-four duct-taped to a K-frame. That's about the extent of my skill... [wink]

See, right there I'm out. Patience ain't my strong suit...

I bought the 332 grips off someone on the S&W forum who refinishes them. They are gorgeous...just like glass:

The grips on the 66 are from the S&W company store web site. In good light they look just like yours.

Well, I shot my 637 with its new wood yesterday and I have mixed feelings. The grips felt smaller in my hand (diameter/width wise) than the rubber Uncle Mikes it came with (which are an authorized copy of Craig Spegel's excellent boot grip). The gun did buck and kick more than it did with the rubber when shooting my carry ammo (Remington 38 Spcl +P 158 gr LSWCHP) to the point that follow up shot speed was affected.

I have a similar load coming from Buffalo Bore, which clocks 1000 fps out of a 2" snub according to them, and I have a feeling I may have to go back to the rubber grips, sell the S&W laminates, and find something fuller in wood.

So if anyone likes the grips, they may be for sale.

what he said. I like these stands. They're soft yet sturdy enough to support the guns. They can be connected as well. I bought them from Midway.
