The sort of issue best researched BEFORE moving.

I know people in Natick with unrestricted A's; however, you are not them and what the situation will be at renewal time is, of course, anyone's guess. However, as you already hold an A, you are less likely to be meddled with than a new applicant.
 
Has anyone here had any experience renewing an LTC-A ALP in Natick? I know people have had problems getting an LTC-A ALP, and some have no problems whatsoever, but what about renewals? I've recently bought my first condo in Natick, and will be moving there shortly, but am worried about going from a VERY green town, Hopkinton, to a somewhat to very red town...And do I REALLY have to renew in Natick? Can't I just do it in Hopkinton?

One's perception of greenality is colored by personal experience. Hopkinton will generally give an ALP if you ask nicely or, if they know you're fairly experienced with handguns, will likely make it such a smooth process you wouldn't even know that they have issued a bunch of restricted LTC-A's in recent years, and continue to do so.

I don't expect you'll have a problem renewing in Natick since you already have the LTC-A/unrestricted. Good luck.

Of greater concern in Natick are policy changes after they recruit a permanent chief (Mannix is retiring).

Congrats! The process, as it currently stands in Malden is very painless, and quite quick. A+ to them, I hope it stays that way over the next few months as the COP there retires and someone new comes in.

That is true....every town is vulnerable to "Regime Change"....kind of sounds like a dictatorship, doesn't it?

sigh.... yes. Its ridiculous, isn't it? Its not right we have to pucker your bunghole every time a new mayor is elected, or when someone in the dept that has something to do with issuing LTCs retires...
 
I never met the man, so I can't say anything bad about him personally. It's just that the processes was not pleasant. However, like I said, the detective who runs the LTC permits was very nice and helpful.

are you one of the ones who managed to get no restrictions from Medford?
 
Yes, but I have a business need. I'm not sure if that was the only reason. I wrote a letter to the COP explaining my need for ALP: target, hunting, business, and general personal protection.

Hopefully so DagWag. There seems to be numerous people on NES with completely clear records whom have been denied. It's especially frustrating if you are in your 30's or 40's I am sure.

Its very frustrating, and somewhat upsetting how difficult "the system" is. I hope that Medford comes around, and Malden stays green through the regime change - even though the fact that each town can do what they please just sucks.

My ex-in-laws are very close with his parents. He's a nice guy on a personal level, I just don't agree with his licensing policies.
 
I have a Medford LTC-A with training wheels (Target and Hunting). From what I read, you need to be a business owner, lawyer or landlord in order to carry here. Apparently that makes a person more capable of CC. I am just a plain old law abiding, blue collared, 9-5er so, unless I move 1/2 mile to my left or right I can't carry.

At least they still let me vote!

Makes PERFECT sense right?? [rolleyes]

I lived here all my life (Medford). I hear he is a nice guy and does a good job.

BUT

Let's just be fair about the whole thing. Creating an aristocrisy is just not something I am proud of about this city. Malden can CC, Melrose can CC, if you are part of the business comunity in Medford you can carrry. But like I said, us plain old 9-5ers who are looked at like second class citizens, it's just disappointing.

Target and Hunting, at least make it something realistic like "Driving and Camping" or "At night when walking into a parking garage with my family after dinner where a guy was knifed the night before so a person can protect his family", NOT MUCH HUNTING IN THE MEDFORD AREA
 
Yes, the double standard is not pleasant at all. If you have a completely clean record you have the RIGHT to defend your life. Remember "LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". Above all others is that you have a right to LIFE. I don't care if we had the best police force in the entire world, these things go down in 30 - 60 seconds. There is no way the police can protect you in these circumstances, unless they just happened to be there.

Now I know for a fact that Medford requires many other items. I had to provide two references, a letter from my employer, and several other things. At what point has the anal probe reached an acceptable point?

I didn't have to provide any of those. They just took my picture and prints. The Inspector in charge was very friendly. I think these are all good people, but the system is just crazy.

I understand a first time LTC holder needing to learn and get experience. I go to the range twice a week. Practice to be as accurate and safe with my weapons as possible. But that doesn't mater one bit; however, if owned a business, for some reason that makes me better equipped to carry a gun. I'm sure if I was getting mugged or had a .45 pointed at me by some rich a-hole in a Porche from Marina Bay in Quincy my business skills would make all the difference right? PLEASE [rolleyes] (But he can carry)

I blame the people in this part of the country to be honest. I need to search through all the Tiger Woods BS, and "what is Tom Brady wearing," to try to find what is going on with the Ft. Hood terrorist; not easy to do. I guess that story doesn't sell papers or get "clicks" on the Viagra adds on the net.

Obama comes on the scene and it's change! change! and hope! hope!, but they go and elect the same old Senators and Reps, on the State and Federal level. How is that change? Change would be a non-Dem or GOP! Not Deval-vote-lock-step-with-the- party.

Dems and Liberal are so concerned with having the "first" black this, and the "first" gay that. Elect the best person. period.

Sorry for the rant. Just very disappointed in my fellow citizens these days. I hope things truly do change and soon, for my kids sake.

+1. I couldn't say it better, I didn't have to go through Medford's BS, but its still ridiculous that 1 mile in either direction can have such great implications. I was about to say that it would be better to have a statewide standard, but then I thought about which moron would likely be making that statewide standard. Wow, I sometimes hate the general constituency and our elected "leaders"...

Just got my unrestricted LTC-A in Abington today. Took about 6 weeks. Application process was painless. The firearms officer was very nice and did a great job of explaining the whole process to me when I dropped off the paperwork.
 
hey guys, just wondering if anyone lives in dracut ma and knows weather or not it is easy to get a class A here. looking to go hi-cap and conseal bu i don't know the chief or if he is lienant or not.
