I picked up a used Walther P22 at MFL Friday. It came with short and long barrels and a laser for $350.

I cleaned it by soaking in Sweets, brushing, Hoppes, brushinh, then CLP. A lot of wax or polymer stuck on the brush but is still smeared toward the end of the barrel. How can I get that out?

Wow!!

On the 3rd Day of scrubbing, a strip of metal 2cm long and 0.5cm wide peeled out of the barrel in one piece. That explains why I couldn't get a jag through.

It wasn't lead (alone), as it wasn't very flexible, but it was shiney white metal. After several more passes with Hoppes, the barrel is like new with sharp rifling all along the length.

What the heck was that slab of metal coming out?

I had an AR7 keyholing bullet at the end of the day of shooting and when we broke it down to clean it, I noticed that 3/4 of the way dow the barrel the rifling was gone. After a few scrubs I had several 5" pieces of lead laying on the table.
