Please note the last Q&A wrt the AG's double secret list: She appears to have validated the EOPS list as the definitive source for what is legal for FFL sale in MA. Knowingly or unknowingly, this section does all sorts of shit. We have yet to scratch the surface of this lunacy.

And yet someone posted a while back that her office stated a Ruger Scout rifle was in fact an assault weapon because it could take AR mags.

No. However, a weapon that is manufactured as an Assault Weapon cannot be made legal by alterations that allow it to discharge .22-caliber ammunition.

So a M&P15-22 is exempt from her decree now? Until an asterisk is added? Or not?
 
The Enforcement Notice makes no change to the list of handguns, including semi-automatic pistols, approved for sale in Massachusetts. The most recent list (August 2016) is available here links to PDF file.

So with the MA AG now stating:
Guns that are Not Assault Weapons:
Any 22 caliber rifle.

WTF:an AR-15 or AK47 chambered in 5/56 or .223 Remington is 22 caliber.

She needs to understand what 22LR is..Rimfire not centerfire..

When will these idiots learn!

If the AG knew what she was doing, she'd have a real job.

WTS: AR-15 with all evil killy features, chambered from factory in 22 LR. We have heard of some users replacing our BCG with .223 / 5.56 BCGs and firing those rounds successfully in our rifles, but we don't recommend that.

More hypothetical fun with exceptions: if the mini-14 is explicitly not an 'assault weapon', does that mean it can be put into an Archangel Sparta stock?

This. Her words. Shops should print it now and start selling all the glocks on the list to non-LEO's.
 
This is what happens when tyrants try to make rules about things they don't really understand. Imagine everything else our political figures don't understand and **** up on a daily basis. This is the problem with the vast majority of these people being attorneys. They don't know enough about other stuff. Obamacare is probably one of the best recent examples of this problem.
